Round 2 of Betfred League One is almost upon us, with four games taking place on Sunday 24 March - all teams are in action except for Oldham this weekend.
North Wales Crusaders will finally begin their 2024 league campaign and travel to The Memorial Ground to face Cornwall RLFC. The Crusaders have been waiting patiently following early exits from the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup and Betfred Challenge Cup competitions and should be raring to go come Sunday's eagerly-awaited match.
Mike Abbott’s men, on the other hand, will be aiming to bounce back from their heavy defeat away at Keighley last Sunday and will be determined to do this on their home patch and kick-start their 2024 season.
Last time out at The Memorial Ground, it was the Crusaders who emerged 10-42 victors – although Cornwall did triumph in the reverse leg 38-40. But who will win in Round 2?
It’s two home games on the spin for Keighley Cougars, as they welcome Cumbrian side Workington Town to Cougar Park. Workington have won their last five meetings with Keighley, the Cougars’ last victory against this opposition being a 32-26 home win in 2019.
Keep an eye out for Workington stalwart and half-back Carl Forber – he has scored points in Town’s last 11 meetings between the two sides - this scoring streak dating all the way back to 2014!
Two of last week’s winners Rochdale Hornets and Hunslet will also go head-to-head, as both sides will look to make it back-to-back victories following impressive performances and wins in the opening round.
Elsewhere, Midlands Hurricanes and Newcastle Thunder will meet at the Alexander Stadium, with both sides aiming to earn their first league wins of 2024.
